Last weekend I took my daughter to see the Broadway series Lion King. She loved it. I thought the costumes were incredible and am glad we saw it but I wouldn’t see it again. I saw Memphis in NYC a few months ago and that, I would see again!

I fell in love with this blouse at Century 21 in NYC. The colors, the fabric, everything about it is so sumptuous. Because it was so bright, I paired it with neutrals, but it would be equally awesome with some red or navy shorts.

I’ve worn this dress before. It’s one of the few that fits my lifestyle—casual, yet polished. I wore this to an editorial meeting with Florida Realtor magazine.

Magpie Styling Tip: Ditch the belt that comes with your dresses and add your own flair. I’ve worn this dress with a wide grey/fushcia belt and this smaller belt. Experiment with different colors and sizes. You’ll be surprised at what ends up looking good and what doesn’t.

I love the easiness of a dress, but I really don’t have many casual, throw-on-to-run-errands dresses. In fact, that’s something I have on my wish list for this summer. Instead, I have a lot of dresses like this one. I love it, but it’s just a tad too dressy for my everyday style. I wore this to church.

Finding cute, casual dresses is something I really struggle with. Either they look like I should be wearing them to the beach, or they’re too dressy. Plus, my body style rules out some styles. Have you found any cute, casual dresses lately? If so, do tell!

Whew, I just got back from a business trip. I’ve been in Dallas the past four days. The first day a friend picked me up from the airport and we hit Highland Park Village, home to lots of swanky shops. Then, we had dinner at Cafe Pacific. I love this Parker top although the volume of it is a tad much. This is a size small and it’s still too large. However, I tried to balance it out with some slimmer jeans and the jacket.

Today, May 1, is my wedding anniversary. Since I’m traveling today (work trip), hubby and I went out last Saturday. We hit Del Frisco’s for steak and lobster-yum! I bought this Trina Turk dress from Nordstrom’s Rack marked down from $219 to $49! Gotta love a deal.

I also just got my hair colored and went a little darker. I felt like my hair was so light on top but dark everywhere else. I wanted more dimension and for my highlights to pop more. I’m on the fence. I want to be blonder but my natural color is so dark that if I go too light my hair turns brassy too quickly. What do you think?

Magpie Styling Tip: Experiment! This dress has a tie waist that’s fine but I needed more waist definition. I tried three different belts on and this one was the best. I also tried on two different pairs of black shoes before settling on some bright orange ones! I know it can be hard, but take a few minutes to experiment with your accessories and shoes. Don’t just throw on your go-to black sandals and call it a day.
