Ciao, Italia!

Hi everyone! It’s been a long time, huh? Between travel and work, my blogging has fallen to the wayside. But, I did put together some pictures of the outfits I wore while in Italy. Sorry, I didn’t take any pictures that really show off any outfit. My plan was to pack a lot of comfy dresses that could be worn day or night. Most restaurants in Italy are casual, so a cute dress can go pretty far. As for shoes, I alternated between a pair of black Nine West gladiator sandals that had a cushy bottom, a pair of brown leather thong cushy sandals and a pair of Converse sneakers. All of the shoes were tested ahead of time to ensure they wouldn’t hurt my feet. I wore the above outfit our first day in Lucca, which is in northern Tuscany.

I wore this outfit to Cinque Terre, a series of five villages on the northern Italian Riviera. The villages are right on the Mediterranean Sea, so these are beach towns. Beautiful views, but don’t drive there. We made that mistakes. The roads are very narrow, filled with hairpin turns and steep while you navigate through the mountain. Instead, drive to La Spezia, park and take the train.

Talk about comfy, this outfit was perfect for dinner. Casual, comfy and it looked great with the black jacket I took. We had perfect weather–70s during the day; 60s at night. I think this would’ve looked better with heels, but I didn’t bring any as I knew we’d be walking to dinner each night. This is at the Hotel De La Ville in Florence were we stayed one night at the beginning of our trip and one night at the end.

A great walking around dress that I could wear with my Converse or my tan sandals. I wore this to dinner one night in Lucca.

Another dinner dress, although this could easily go from day to night. Again, some cute black heeled booties would have worked for night.

This dress looks great for night with a black belt and black heels or boots. For day, I wore it without a belt and with flats. This picture was taken in Lucca as we were walking the wall around the city on our way to dinner.

Of course, I wore many other outfits, but these were my faves. For me, the key for packing was that everything had to fit in my carry on suitcase (toiletries went in a separate bag), shoes had to be comfy and outfits had to go from day to night easily. I also wanted a jacket that packed light. The Nanette Lepore jacket was perfect. It was lightweight, rolled up to fit in my purse and didn’t wrinkle or show dirt. Our trip took us from Florence to Lucca (which was our home base). Then, we took day trips to Pisa, Montecatini Terme, Cinque Terre, Montecarlo and then back to Florence for our final night. Great memories!
