I envy “dress girls.” You know–the ones who always throw on cute, casual dresses instead of shorts? My problem is that I can never find those perfectly casual dresses (no, seriously, I can’t!) or I go with something too dressy to wear running errands. So, when I saw this dress a few weeks ago at TJ Maxx, I knew I could feel like a “dress girl.” I put it with boots here, but I would wear it with flats as well.

The Outfit Deets
Dress: Max Studio via TJ Maxx
Belt: Ann Taylor Loft
Necklace: Via Ebay, I LOVE this statement necklace.
Boots: Banana Republic–I’ve had them for so long they’re back in style. I think they are like 10 years old.

Lovin' the stacked 70s heel!

Project: Wardrobe Makeover

Adrea and her pile of giveaway/consign clothing!

Let me introduce you to Adrea, a mom of two and good friend who asked me to help her makeover her wardrobe. I’m so excited about working with her. As a gift, her husband gave her $1,500 to spend on a new wardrobe.

Adrea’s style is classic. In going through her closet, she tends to go with solids, blacks and pastels. She has a girly side that likes ruffles and purple, which can trend on the younger side. Of course, Adrea is young, but her goal is to find a more classic, casual look that is comfortable (for errands and school runs), yet looks polished. She prefers skirts but likes the look of the baggier fall trouser shorts and would live in jeans all winter long.

The first thing we did was go through her closet. That pile? That’s what she’s getting rid of, which is more than she has left! After we sorted through the clothing, I arranged her closet by sleeveless/short sleeve knit shirts (like colors together), blouses, cardigans, skirts, dresses. I put all the like colors together so she can better see what she has.

Adrea showed me her favorite items as well as some outfits she pulled from magazines. She also pinned some outfits on Pintrest that you can see here. Some items on her wish list:

Bootcut Jeans
Trouser Jeans: I like these from Banana Republic
Skinny or ankle crop Jeans
Flowy blouses
Denim Jacket: I think a classic dark denim jacket would be awesome!
Black Boots (heel): Absolutely love this classic style from Loft
Caramel Boots (flat)
Flats: Leopard is a go-to and a neutral, really! I also like the Tory Burch Eddie Flat in Black or Carmel.
A Statement Necklace and Bracelets
Going out Dress: I love this style and it can be dressed up and down. I also like this one.
Casual Dress
Casual Skirts
Drapey Tee Shirts
One Statement Bag

Our goal is to put together at least 10-20 different outfits from the pieces that we buy. I’d like to add some color to her wardrobe, include one or two fab items that take her out of her comfort zone and give her some classics with staying power. Stay tuned for our shopping trip!

Adrea's two favorite items: a colorful flowy blouse and a sexy, classic black dress.

Birthday Luncheon

My sister in law turned 50 today! As you can see by the picture, if that’s the new face of 50, I’m not so scared. We had a luncheon for her. I’ve been wanting to wear this bird dress since last year and just haven’t pulled it out. I love it.

Happy Birthday Shawn!!!

Sweater Weather?

Obviously I did not wear this outfit as it’s still to hot for a sweater and leather leggings. But, I wanted to see what it looked like together, so I put it on and snapped a picture. These boots were on sale at Target for $20 and I thought they would be cute for fall/winter with jeans and casual outfits. They are a knock off of the J Crew MacAlister boot and similiar to the MacAlister Wedge Boots.

The Outfit Deets
Sweater Poncho: Old Navy
Leather Leggings: Helmut Lang via ebay
Desert Boots: Target
Bracelets: Philippe Audibert, Ann Taylor, Vintage Bangle, Watch via Target

Running some errands today. I’m so sick of sitting around in yoga pants that I decided to pump it up a notch today and put together a simple outfit with polish. These are my new fav shoes. They are Franco Sarto and I bought them for $20 at Marshalls, LOVE them. They go with everything. I must have screwed up my camera settings as everything is coming out blurry but don’t have time to fix it now. Sorry about the picture!
